Becerik-Gerbe Indoor location information is of great value to the building industry in improving the utilization and maintenance of facilities. The paper identifies previous academic accomplishments of radio frequency identification (RFID)-based indoor location sensing (ILS) solutions. The paper summarizes the major location sensing methods used in previous RFID-based solutions, and provides a review of 21 research projects, with their algorithm design, devices, test setup, and performance evaluation presented in detail. Based on this review, the paper summarizes the intensive use of the proximity method in RFID-based ILS, and analyzes the underlying rationale. The findings point out that no single solution satisfies all criteria for widespread implementations, and that the adaptability of these solutions to built environments need to be further justified. Finally, the paper outlines the gaps for future research, including modifying ILS solution design, developing a seamless outdoor/indoor location sensing solution, and building a context-aware information delivery mechanism for the building industry. 2011 Elsevier Ltd. Considerations for RFID-Based Indoor Simultaneous Tracking
Context-aware applications is not just a vision. Advances in wireless communications and mobile capabilities have revolutionized the way services are brought to users, i.e. adapted to their context. Location is a key attribute of the term context and thus, an accurate location determination system is of paramount importance. RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) is an emerging technology and re...

As a supporting technology for most pervasive applications, indoor localization and navigation has attracted extensive attention in recent years. Conventional solutions mainly leverage techniques like WiFi and cellular network to effectively locate the user for indoor localization and navigation. In this paper, we investigate the problem of indoor navigation by using the RFID-based delay tolera...
متن کاملRFID based Indoor Positioning System Using Event Filtering
Recently, location systems using RFID technology have been studied in indoor environments. However, the existing techniques require high computational cost to compute the location of a moving object because they compare the location proximity of all reference tags and objects. In this paper, we propose an RFID based location positioning scheme using event filtering, which reduces the computatio...
